What You Need To Know About Water

I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. As I write this Cyclone Debbie is headed for the Queensland Coast and I’m doing my best to imagine her taking the path of least destruction. I’m actually in Noosa at the moment and due to a little email glitch that led to me printing the wrong ticket we are staying an extra night. Hopefully, I’m in the air as this lands in your inbox.

I came up to Noosa with Harry and our daughter, Michelle so Michelle and I could attend the Australian HypnoBirthing Summit on Saturday. It was fabulous. Over 30 practitioners all sharing the dream that all women everywhere become aware of the importance of the birth experience for themselves and their babies.  If you would like to learn more about Hypnobirthing take a look at our website at www.hypnobirthing.com.au.

I’ll tell you more about the Summit next week but for now I want to talk to you about one of the simplest, most natural things you can do for your health. I’m actually referring to drinking water.  As the weather starts to gets colder it’s easy to forget to keep up your water intake.  Most people don’t drink enough water even through the summer, and even less in winter, so I thought it might be a good idea to talk about the importance of staying hydrated throughout the whole year.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind regarding water. One is the quantity of the water you drink and the other is the quality.

It’s recommended that you drink 30mls of water for every kilo that you weigh.  If you’re 60 kilos that means 1.8 litres, if you’re 100 kilos then its 3 litres. It may seem like a lot but our bodies need that amount of water just to stay hydrated. Our brain actually needs water more than the rest of the body and it will be given priority at the expense of other organs. Water transports nutrients throughout the body and it also washes away toxins.

As you know every cell in your body needs nutrients to stay healthy. You may not realise however, how important it is to cleanse the toxic waste that’s produced by each cell. Years ago I heard about a laboratory that had kept human cells alive and unchanged for over 20 years. The cells were nourished and flushed with clean water twice a day.

One morning the cells were dead. Apparently the lab technician had forgotten to flush the cells the day before and the toxic waste that was produced by them had poisoned them. In reality your body is like a bag of cells. Fifty to 80 trillion of them.

When you think about it, 30mls of water isn’t very much to flush out 1 kilo of your body’s tissue every day.  According to Dr F Batamanghelidj, author of “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water, you’re not sick you’re thirsty,” most diseases are due to chronic dehydration. Are you feeling thirsty yet?

The other issue with water is the quality. If you don’t drink enough water that may be because you’re body doesn’t like the quality of the water you have access to. If you’re drinking unfiltered tap water or bottled water that has been stored in plastic then the body intuitively knows that’s not so good for you.

I’ve muscle tested many people over the past few years and found that when they hold tap water in their mouth they test “weak” and when they hold the water from one of our filters in their mouth they test “strong”.  Although we need to stay hydrated the fluoride and chlorine (among other things) in tap water are quite toxic to our bodies.

There are a few things about fluoride and chlorine that are good to know…

  • 37 out of 43 studies show that fluoride lowers the IQ of children
  • Fluoride was used as a treatment to lower thyroid function
  • Fluoride calcifies in the pineal gland making you less intuitive
  • 97% of Western Europe has rejected putting fluoride in the water supply
  • An unprecedented number of US states are rejecting fluoride
  • Chlorine kills the bacteria in our water supply but it also kills the good bugs in our digestive system
  • Cancer risk among people drinking chlorinated water is 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine.   – U.S. Council Of Environmental Quality

I could go on but the thing is…. Are you drinking enough water? And is it good quality water?
I’ve learned that Water Filters need to do 4 things:

  1. Filter out the impurities and chemicals
  2. Put back the beneficial minerals
  3. Alkalise the water
  4. Ionize the water (so it tastes creamy and is easily absorbed at a cellular level)

I’m afraid that cheap filters (like the ones you buy in the supermarket), boiling or distilling water or buying bottled water are not enough.

If you don’t have a good quality water filter then take a look at the range we have in our store at Tunstall Square or from our online shop.  I’m currently offering a 10% discount on our ZAZEN Water Filter to help you stay healthy through autumn and winter.  And remember you can always drink a cup of warm filtered water instead of your usual cuppa.
